Our Mission O u r   M i s s i o n

To remove persistent microplastics from the products we use every day.

BitByBit started with one simple question: why are we still cutting our food on plastic that sheds microplastics?

Cutting boards are used in almost every kitchen. They touch our food every day. Yet most plastic boards are made from materials that are designed to last for hundreds of years after they leave your home.

We believe that can be done better.

The problem starts on the surface

Every cut leaves a mark.
On traditional plastic cutting boards, those marks can release tiny plastic particles.

Some particles stay on the board. Some go into the sink. Some may end up in your food.

It is a small problem in one kitchen, but a much bigger problem when you look at millions of cutting boards used every day around the world.

BitByBit was created to offer a better alternative.

We are not anti-convenience. We are anti-waste.

People use plastic cutting boards because they are easy. They are lightweight, practical, dishwasher-safe, and affordable.

We understand that.

Our mission is not to make sustainable products that are harder to use. Our mission is to make better products that fit into real life.

A cutting board should be practical.
It should be beautiful.
It should be easy to clean.
And it should not be made from conventional plastic.

Built differently, bit by bit

BitByBit is more than one cutting board. It is the beginning of a different way to design kitchen products.

We focus on three principles:

Better materials
We use PHA instead of traditional fossil-based plastics.

Local production
Our boards are produced in the Netherlands, together with partners who understand quality, precision, and material innovation.

Daily impact
We create products people actually use. Because the biggest impact comes from replacing everyday habits, not from products that stay in a drawer.

Why cutting boards first?

Because they are the perfect place to start.

Cutting boards are practical, familiar, and used daily. But they are also directly connected to food, hygiene, and microplastic exposure.

Wood can trap moisture.
Glass can damage your knives.
Traditional plastic can shed persistent microplastics.

So we created a new option: a premium cutting board made from PHA, designed for modern kitchens and a cleaner future.

A product with a story you can feel

BitByBit is designed to look calm, natural, and premium. But behind the simple design is a clear mission.

Every board represents a step away from conventional plastic.
Every kitchen that switches is part of a bigger movement.
Every cut matters, bit by bit.

From idea to first production

BitByBit was founded by Wessel Schönekerl, with the goal of creating a real alternative to traditional plastic cutting boards.

What started as a question about microplastics became a material search, a product design challenge, and eventually a Kickstarter campaign supported by people who believe everyday products can be better.

Now, after our first successful launch, we are building the next step: bringing BitByBit into kitchens around the world.

Join the mission

We are starting with cutting boards.
But the mission is bigger than that.

BitByBit exists to prove that everyday products can be practical, beautiful, and made from better materials.

No greenwashing.
No unnecessary plastic.
Just better choices, bit by bit.
