Our material
BitByBit is made from PHA: a next-generation material created by nature, designed for daily use, and made to avoid the persistent microplastics left behind by traditional plastic cutting boards.
It looks simple. But the material behind it changes everything.
What is PHA?
PHA stands for polyhydroxyalkanoate. It is a natural material produced through fermentation, using renewable resources instead of fossil-based plastics.
Unlike conventional plastics, PHA is not designed to stay in the environment forever. Under the right natural conditions, microorganisms are able to break it down.
That makes PHA one of the most promising alternatives for products that need to be durable in use, but more responsible at the end of their life.
Why we use it for cutting boards
Traditional plastic cutting boards wear down with every cut. Over time, small particles can end up in your food, your sink, and eventually the environment.
We believe a cutting board should be safe to use, pleasant to cut on, and better aligned with the world it ends up in.
That is why BitByBit is made from 100% PHA. It gives the board the practical benefits people expect from a cutting board, without relying on conventional plastic.
Made for everyday use
BitByBit is designed for real kitchens.
It is non-porous, knife-friendly, dishwasher-safe, and comfortable to use every day. The board does not need oiling, coating, or special maintenance.
Just cut, rinse, clean, and use it again.

Certified material. Honest claims.
The PHA material used for BitByBit is based on a certified grade with TÜV Austria certifications for industrial and natural composting environments, including OK Compost Home, Soil and Marine.
That does not mean your cutting board will disappear in your kitchen or dishwasher. It is made to be durable during normal use.
It simply means that the material has a fundamentally different relationship with nature than conventional plastic.
Durable in your kitchen. Different in nature.
A good cutting board should last. That is why BitByBit is designed to withstand daily cutting, washing, and cooking routines.
But durability in use should not mean persistence in the environment.
PHA gives us the opportunity to make a product that performs where it should, without leaving behind the same long-term plastic problem.
The cutting board. Reinvented from the material up.
We did not start with a shape.
We started with the problem.
And the material became the answer.
